Blue Eagles secure number 1 spot for the Final Four. It’s been a long time since my last legit blog post of my thoughts about certain games, so please let this serve as a warning that I’m a little rusty!

Earlier today, I watched the Ateneo-UST game with one of my bestfriends. Unluckily for us, we were stuck on the road for 2 and a half hours (to think we traveled only from Katipunan to MOA Arena!). We weren’t able to see the awesomeness that is “Kiefer’s dunk over Karim Abdul” so I am actually taking this opportunity to share the video I found on YouTube! I heard it wow-ed the crowd that right after the slammer, everyone practically stood up from their seats.

The game was heart-pumping and intense, to say the least. To be honest, the last quarter mainly consisted of silent prayers, angry shouts, and all out cheering for Team Ateneo (I’m speaking mostly for myself here, hehe). I felt the Growling Tigers’ hunger for the number 1 spot, and quite frankly I felt like they had some serious fighting chance today. I have never been so scared and worried for Team Ateneo, that’s why it was such a relief that the officiating referees were able to call Karim Abdul’s goaltending mistake. Had they overlooked that one, we might have lost by 1 point.

I’m glad Juami “Magic” Tiongson came up big this time around, doing what point guards do best. Back in high school, everyone knew him as Magic - last night, Magic showed what the team needs when everything is a little scattered and messy. Aside from Magic, of course there’s Kiefer, Oping, and Ryan who made the ballgame more exciting for the Ateneo crowd.

A wild uproar and applause for the Ateneo Blue Eagles! Looks like this season’s finals will be one heck of a rollercoaster ride. See you at the games! x

Hiatus? It’s over.

This is by far the longest hiatus I’ve had and I am NOT happy about it (not at all). Will post something about the ADMU-DLSU game yesterday (and the ADMU-DLSU round 1 game)! I’ve been really busy ‘cause of work but here’s to hoping I’d be able to update this more often.

Cheers! x

Happy New Year, everyone!! :)

Here’s a little something about the upcoming Fastbreak Charity Basketball Game, greetings and so on! It’s my first time to make a vlog… I hope you enjoy watching it! :)

NBA. Forever. I just found this video on youtube and it’s a tie-up between NBA and TNT (Turner Network Television). For many years, I have been a huge fan of basketball - both NBA and PBA - and I’ve had the chance (and experience) to play for my high school’s varsity team… So, I guess you could say my interest in the sport has always been there. When I found this on the internet, I can’t help but feel this kind of nostalgia because some of the players shown in the video have long been retired basketball players.

I like how they showed how old school basketball was compared to the NBA we know of today - uniforms, teams and rosters may change annually but one thing remains: the love for the game. Basically, after watching this I just want to play basketball whenever I’m free because to me it’s more than just a sport - it’s a huge part of me.

Anyway, hehe sorry I don’t mean to sound too sentimental… I hope you’d like this video! :)

Good news, bad news!
GOOD NEWS: Okay, for the basketball enthusiasts/fans out there I’m sure a lot of you are aware that NBA is back on! The NYK (Knicks) won 106-104 against BOS (Celtics) and both teams did a good job in making the first game of the season incredibly exciting! Well, for me it is. I support the Knicks ‘cause it’s our second home. Rondo did amazing though in helping the Celtics put up an exciting game. :)
BAD NEWS: For all Dallas Mavs fans out there… Right now, at 4:41am I’m actually watching MIA (Heat) beat DAL (Mavs) to a pulp with 53-28 at the 2nd quarter with 3 minutes remaining. It’s too early to tell which team will win but I have to say Heat’s making the Mavs look horrible.
Okay, enough about NBA (although I really wanna keep talking about it)… Back to Philippine basketball!
Seeing some good in the bad: I’m sure you’re all aware of what happened to Mindanao due to Typhoon Sendong..? Well, Kiefer came up with this idea of starting a charity basketball game that people can watch (you have to pay for the tickets, of course) on January at the San Juan Arena! So far, so good because if you’ve been following his twitter account you’d see him talking to his fellow athletes and a bunch of them already committed themselves for the game on January 6! They’re also aiming to get celebrities to play to entice more people to watch… So if you do know how to contact Gerald Anderson, please let us know. :) All the proceeds will go to the Sendong victims in Mindanao, so if you’re a big fan of basketball (UAAP, NCAA, SINAG Pilipinas, celebrities) then January 6 would be basketball heaven for all of you! :)
Hmm, I guess that’s it for now. I do hope you to see you guys there at the Arena on the 6th! ;)
I have to watch Miami beat Dallas by a landslide pa… Poor Mavs! I’m actually for the Mavs.. :( So there! Merry Christmas and see you all real soon! x

Prepare for Slaughter..? Yes, you can say that again! According to an InterAKTV article about our favorite UAAP 7-footer, Greg will still be playing for the Ateneo Blue Eagles next year! Personally, I’m relieved that he’s going to play for us next year since he has proven himself as an offensive asset (as long as he’s having a good day). One more year wouldn’t hurt, right? I’m kind of excited for him once he’s done with UAAP though. Imagine, PBA!
So, are we ready for a 5-peat? Well, I think that could be possible considering last season’s team is still somewhat intact! See you next season at Smart Araneta Coliseum! For now, let’s show our support for the Blue Eagles tomorrow (December 9, 2011, 4pm) against the San Beda Red Lions who’s currently top seed. The Blue Eagles lost to San Sebastian College-Recoletos by 1 point last Tuesday after a very stressful and intense game; had we won this Friday game wouldn’t be do or die. So, show your support for the Blue Eagles and cheer your heart out for them! Updates would be really awesome (hehe) since I will be in Quezon Province for immersion by then.. So tweets or text updates would be great, friends! Thanks so much!

I’m currently in the library finishing my school work, so I only got updates from friends who watched the game on TV. The boys won against University of Cebu, 100-53. Great finish for the Blue Eagles!  Greg Slaughter is dubbed Player of the Game with 18 points, 11 rebounds at 7/8 FG shooting. Well done, big guy! Next game (Game 15) is tomorrow at 2pm against the Luzon Metro Manila Bracket Winner. :)
