Blue Eagles secure number 1 spot for the Final Four. It’s been a long time since my last legit blog post of my thoughts about certain games, so please let this serve as a warning that I’m a little rusty!
Earlier today, I watched the Ateneo-UST game with one of my bestfriends. Unluckily for us, we were stuck on the road for 2 and a half hours (to think we traveled only from Katipunan to MOA Arena!). We weren’t able to see the awesomeness that is “Kiefer’s dunk over Karim Abdul” so I am actually taking this opportunity to share the video I found on YouTube! I heard it wow-ed the crowd that right after the slammer, everyone practically stood up from their seats.
The game was heart-pumping and intense, to say the least. To be honest, the last quarter mainly consisted of silent prayers, angry shouts, and all out cheering for Team Ateneo (I’m speaking mostly for myself here, hehe). I felt the Growling Tigers’ hunger for the number 1 spot, and quite frankly I felt like they had some serious fighting chance today. I have never been so scared and worried for Team Ateneo, that’s why it was such a relief that the officiating referees were able to call Karim Abdul’s goaltending mistake. Had they overlooked that one, we might have lost by 1 point.
I’m glad Juami “Magic” Tiongson came up big this time around, doing what point guards do best. Back in high school, everyone knew him as Magic - last night, Magic showed what the team needs when everything is a little scattered and messy. Aside from Magic, of course there’s Kiefer, Oping, and Ryan who made the ballgame more exciting for the Ateneo crowd.
A wild uproar and applause for the Ateneo Blue Eagles! Looks like this season’s finals will be one heck of a rollercoaster ride. See you at the games! x
